during the christmas service at church on saturday
there was this thing about how christmas is a hard time for many
people who are poor, lonely, sick, unloved, people who have lost loved ones in the past year and it just made me think about it all and how lucky i am
and how after seeing so many of those mentally ill patients out there living in isolation in their houses without heating, without family or friends, without anything, i hope they'll be ok this christmas
so spread the joy to all those around you and put a smile on their face
you never know how far little gestures can go to make the people whom society hates the most feel loved and valued and i've seen it first hand how little encouraging words can just break a person and make the person feel happy and grateful to the point of tears especially when they think no one cares.
I must say, psychiatry, no matter how crazy things get at times, has been a very humbling and touching experience.
